All Shook Up - May 15th to 24th 2009 - The Capital Theatre, BendigoFri, 15/05/2009 - 10:33am — David Townsend
Bendigo Theatre Company's new production is about to hit the stage at the Capital Theatre in Bendigo! Featuring the songs of Elvis Presley, amazing music and dance, and some of Bendigo's best performers, "All Shook Up" tells the story Natalie, a young woman in a small town in the American Midwest with dreams of hitting the road. Chad, a black-jacketed, rock-and-roll-loving motorcyclist stops at the town's garage because his bike needs repair. Chad is a charismatic rebel, and Natalie, the mechanic, immediately falls for him. To tell you more of the plot would ruin the show, so you'll just have to go see it! Reminiscent of Shakespeare's Twelth Night, "All Shook Up" incorporates many of Presley's biggest hits, ranging from sweet romantic ballads such as "Love Me Tender" to the rollicking "Devil in Disguise" and the hip-swiveling title song. Tickets will no doubt sell fast, so get yours quick at The Capital Theatre box office, either online at their website or by phoning the box office during business hours on 03 5434 6100. Performance in Bendigo has always struggled to hold the attention of the wider community beyond a strong core of local supporters. Bendigo Backstage aims to aid the growth of the performing arts community through promotion and by raising awareness within the general public. There are many different groups involved in performing arts production, including orchestras, technical crew, performers, designers, venues, production crew, film makers and volunteers. We hope that Bendigo Backstage covers the interest of these groups, while encouraging personal growth and training among Bendigo’s performers and supports those wishing to pursue their talents to a professional level.
Along the way word spread and soon we had many people jumping on board and were in need of a team, so we gathered a group of enthusiastic youths also with a love of the performing arts to help with the creation, which we believe is a vital ingredient to the success of the project, as we are not just the creators of an informative website, but performance makers ourselves. It soon out grew the university project and became something much more exciting. From the Team at Bendigo Backstage we hope you enjoy browsing our site and hopefully you find it both interesting and useful and keep coming back for updates.
