SHARED LEARNING IN MATURE YEARS U3A Bendigo was established to actively encourage the mature in our community to continue their interest - or gain a new interest – in learning and education without the obligation of entrance qualifications or examinations. COURSES: Some courses are ongoing, others last for a set period (say four to ten weeks depending on the subject and the interests of the group). Members have the right to choose whatever courses they want to attend. TEACHING: In U3A Bendigo classes are taught by an individual or a team effort. Some classes are taught by conventional lecture methods while others are essentially participatory. U3A Bendigo depends very largely on its small membership subscriptions, we do not pay our tutors. No distinction is made between tutors and students: a tutor in one class is more than likely to be a student in another. Some of the current classes and activity groups are: Art, Bushwalking, Chess, French, Computers, Current Issues, Creative Writing, Embroidery, Mah Jong, Table Tennis, Recorder Playing, Chimes, and Choir. The musical groups often do presentations at functions and institutions in and around Bendigo. They are happy to be invited to perform at any time and can be reached by contacting U3A on 54440362 or by email at: u3abgo@netcon.net.au .
