The ensemble is intended to have approximately 35-40 players only, with essentially one player per part. This wind ensemble is modelled on the Eastman Wind Ensemble concept, and requires high standard performers on all instruments.

All positions are auditioned. The minimum age for audition is 18 and, as such, the ensemble is intended for the mature musician. There is no age limit for any member of the ensemble.

The intent of this ensemble is to appeal to the skilled amateur/professional musician who wants to perform in a wind ensemble that will be dealing with the serious and challenging wind ensemble repertoire. All members of the ensemble are required to become members of the Heidelberg Orchestras and pay an annual membership fee.
